As part of our ongoing support for bold initiatives in South Africa, The Ichikowtz Family Foundation was one of the key partners to host the official presentation of the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation Drakensberg Inclusive Growth Forum Report to the Honourable Minister of Finance, Mr Tito Mboweni (acting on behalf of His Excellency, the President of South Africa, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa). Jewish Memories of Mandela book presented to President Ramaphosa at the SAJBD November 2018 Congress.

At the Gauteng chapter of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies Biannual Congress on Sunday 25 November, President Cyril  Ramaphosa spoke to the audience in conversation with former Investec chairman Stephen Koseff. The President was presented with a coffee table book Jewish Memories of Mandela, that offers unique insights on the story of Nelson Mandela’s relationship with the Jewish community during the anti-apartheid struggle. The Rainbow Makers Tribute Series Broadcast in celebration of Heritage Month 2016

The Ichikowitz Family Foundation’s The Rainbow Makers Tribute Series was first broadcast on SABC in celebration of Twenty Years of Democracy in 2014 and then in 2015 on ED CHANNEL 190 on DSTV & GOtv ON M-NET channel 65, expanding its continental footprint in 49 African countries. (more…)

 491 Days: Prisoner Number 1323/69 Winnie Madikizela-Mandela

A few hours before dawn on 12 May 1969, security police stormed the Soweto home of Winnie Mandela and detained her in the presence of her two young daughters, then aged nine and 10. For Winnie Mandela this was the start of a 491-day period of detention and two trials. (more…)


IT’S A FINE LINE, a historic multi-media experience – Now a permanent exhibition at Conhill

The Ichikowitz Family Foundation, in partnership with Constitution Hill, presented a major new exhibition, IT’S A FINE LINE, a historic multi-media experience from 18-30 April 2016.

With 2016 ushering in the celebration of twenty years of the South African Constitution, The Ichikowitz Family Foundation partnered with Constitution Hill to honour this momentous national anniversary, in presenting, for the first time, a major new exhibition of hyper-realistic drawings by acclaimed artist Dean Simon titled, IT’S A FINE LINE – a series of provocative artworks that examine different viewpoints about the people, places and events which heralded our remarkable Constitution.
