Bringing The Ichikowitz Family Foundation’s Citizen Call to Action Campaign to Learners of Orlando West High School.

In honour of Nelson Mandela International Day on Monday 18 July 2016, The Zoleka Mandela Foundation and The Ichikowitz Family Foundation commemorated the legacy of Mandela by changing the lives of learners from Orlando West High School and their communities with an afternoon of activities that confront current challenges facing high school youth.

In homage to Mandela’s humanitarian heritage, South Africa and the world are called to pledge their active citizenship to help those in need throughout the month of July. Today The Zoleka Mandela Foundation and The Ichikowitz Family Foundation offered the School donations of library resources, classroom chairs, and sanitary pads for girls.

As part of the celebration, the learners of Orlando West High School were treated to a performance of The Ichikowitz Family Foundation’s interactive Beat Box performance that creatively promotes the #IAMCONSTITUTION campaign, calling on the nation to breathe, walk and live the Constitution the same way that Nelson Mandela did. To live the “Bill of Rights” enshrined in our Constitution is one of Mandela’s greatest legacies, and today’s Mandela Day event with Orlando West High School encourages South Africa to honour Mandela’s legacy throughout the year by taking action and exploring the many ways to give back, whether it’s a gift of time, money or expertise, no matter how small.
